We went to look at a Farmall 560 LP today. I was impressed with it. It was in much better shape than I expected. The paint is good. It has an aftermarket widefront end. The rear tires are excellent with no weather cracks, just road wear. The rear hubs are spin out hubs. It has a fast hitch with a swinging drawbar. It starts good and runs smooth. All of the gears shift good and the TA is good. It has 3871.1 hours on a working tach. The serial number is 7067 CSY. That means it was made november of '58. Can anyone tell me what the CSY means? We gave $2,500 for it in east central MO. I think it was a good buy. What do you guys think?

If that tachometer is showing the actual hours then I do not think you got a good buy!

At less than 3900 hours that tractor is barely used. I had a gasser once that had about 12,000 on it when I sold it for that about 15 years ago. The diesel I have now must be getting close (it’s on the third hour meter) and you might be able to talk me out of it for that but probably not. I think you need to go back and pay him at least another $1000 so that he can’t turn you in for grand theft! :>)

Seriously, sounds like you got the better end of the deal as you got a lot of tractor there for your money!

Sounds like a winner to me. Watched a 504 gas in similar condition (NF) sell on Saturday that brought $3000, about 2/3 the tractor you just bought.

Considering that you can't touch a SMTA for that I think the 560 and 656 are a real sleeper right now.
