I bought my 1st tractor today, a 1954 Farmall Super M. I have been looking for a year and I can say that study and patience paid off.

I got it from the second owner and it is a solid work tractor. Has faded paint but no rust and the metal is straight. Live PTO, Brand new 3 point conversion, 12 volt conversion, 6" bush hog and 1 set of wheel weights for $2,100.00

Due to the weight of the tractor I had to drive it home...20 miles. Long drive, but fun, and best of all no problems.

I would drive it home from where you live for $2100 regardless of where you live for that kind of money.Sounds like you got a great deal .

Sounds like a Super M-TA.
Only made one year, 1954.
The Independent Power Take Off was an option.

Have fun and be safe. ;o]

I agree sounds like a SMTA and if it is, someone should call the authorities as it sounds like he stole it to me! :>)

Enjoy the tractor and if you post a serial number we can tell you exactly what you have.

Looks like responses got mixed between two separate questions. Senior moments maybe?

Hmm. Sounds like a '51 M to me - but don't see how it would have a live PTO. They didn't make them until the Super M-TA in 1954.

According to the serial number list on the left, if it's an M it is a late 1951, if it is an H it is a 1948.
