I am all out of ideas. I have been trying to find a rebuild for my father's Hough Payloader. It is from the 50's. Here is the info I have:

Eng #: 2910396 TC
Eng Model: QXD-3

Carb #'s: 49630 104610

He brought the carb to a place that said they could rebuild it, but that was 8 weeks ago and they still have not been able to find or make a gasket for it. I bought a kit for carbs with a number close to dad's carb# after they told me that it would either work or they could modify it to work. Sounds like bull to me.

Can anyone here please help me help my dad out. Thanks for anything you guys can do, because after searching for weeks, I am all out of ideas.

I think it's model HF. If that's not a valid model, i'll look into it.

Ongoing thanks and appreciation.

Try this web site: Hal

www.furnival.com

They now go by the name of Midalantic Machinery,
they're distributors for Hough loaders. I have the phone numbers for the place in Delaware and MD if you need them.

What engine is in that loader? Hal
Post the model number of the loader too, if you can find it.

Thank you for your assistance, El Toro! The engine is a Hercules model QXD-3. Wow! I never thought in my wildest dreams that THIS forum would be stumped for answers. I never would have imagined a carb kit could be this difficult to locate. Actually it just needs a specific gasket, but it would be easier to find the kit that includes the gasket than to find the gasket by itself.

What have I gotten myself into? :-)

I called a Hercules dealer and he said to contact the carburetor manufacturer and see if a kit is available. You should be able to find the company on the internet. If you can not find them, post back with the carburetor make. Hal

What part of the US are you in? You must remember that none of these old IH tractors used any Hercules engines. They did use some Waukesha
engines in the early Farmall Regulars and may have used some in the F12 Farmalls. Front end
loaders were considered construction equipment
even though Hough was purchased by IH, they sold it to another company, Furnival. I'll call my local Midlantic Machinery on Monday. I'll get back to you one way or the other. Hercules were used in a lot of old WW2 military vehicles. Hal
