I have never been able to understand this jar thing. I have seen them for sell on ebay and other places.
I also see them in WalMart for about six dollars a dozen. It's just a simple wide mouth mason jar. What's the big deal?

Some people use green tractor attractant. The little tractors get in there and can't get back out. Just like those yellow jacket traps. There is some type of attractant available for many different types of pests.

I like it - just for that reason I think I'll need a glass jar on mine when I complete a restore

I haven't done the research, but I'm willing to bet there are several palstic jars, peanut butter, salad dressing, etc. in my kitchen that would fit. Not the origional by any means, but relatively unbreakable, which solves one problem!

I guess its like most things, if you want the correct jar, it says Ball and special on it.

It's not a big deal unless you want an original jar. The Walmart ones may fit, but are not original. To each his own.
