I have just finished restoreing my 52 H. Problem is the carb is not delivering enough fuel... I checked the float height and idle stop, idle fuel mix and fuel mixture settings. This is a rebuild kit from Tractor Supply Co. The setting i used above are from the kit instructions.

The motor runs fine, but only when the choke is half applied. Any info is appreciated.

I would double check the float height with the dealer or someone on here but not from the IT manual. Did you measure the float right . and some directions and the IT manual or should I say my IT manual had the wrong float height. I dont remember what it was suposed to be.

Turn the main fuel adjusting screw in until the engine starts to miss, then unscrew it to a point where the engine runs steady. For the best operation keep adjustment as lean as possible. Screw the main adjusting screw in for lean and out for rich mixtures. If, after adjusting, the engine still does not get the correct amount of fuel, it may be caused by the main fuel adjusting screw coming loose. This can be corrected by tightening the adjusting screw packing nut.

There is not much that can go wrong with any IH carb. You could have a clogged passage. Disassemble and soak it in carb cleaner overnight and blow out with compressed air. Don't forget the screen inside the fitting that the fuel line attaches to. You could have restricted fuel flow anywhere between the tank outlet to the carb. Also, the settings in the instructions are there only so that the tractor will start. They need to be adjusted after the engine is warm. Main adjustment in until rough, out until smooth, perhaps an additional 1/4 to 1/2 turn. Idle jet, in or out until a smooth idle is obtained.

Have you checked for air leaks? Make sure the carb is bolted tightly to the manifold. Did you maybe put gasket in backword in the carb? Dave.

Dave, gasket is correctly installed, will double check leaks at manifold, i see no air fuel mixture slipping out. not to say air is not slipping in.

Use a can of aerosol silicone to check for intake leaks – when running, - little spert to the area and if the engine speeds up it indicates an intake leak - just keep it away for the main air intake-- you’ll have to have the air cleaner attached up

Matt, buff the three sides of the needle valve with a small file and emery cloth, and make sure that you use the wire clip if your needle valve has the groove in it. The clearance is to tight in the seat and the clip pulls the needle open with the float. kjm

Matt-My B did the same thing with running only on part choked. I soaked and cleaned and rebuilt it three times. Apparantly a passage was clogged that just wouldn't open. I threw the carb out and got a brand new Zenith and have had no more problems.
