Where were the "A", "B" and "C" models made? Since the "A" and "B" models use from the same serial number range, except for the power, were they pretty much the same tractor? About what does each model. "A", "B" and "C" weigh? When and where is a good Farmall tractor show where one can see and become better acquainted with old Farmalls?

A good show to see a bunch of farmalls this year will be September 9-11 in Dalton, MN. It is along I-94 near Fergus Falls. Both IH collectors clubs 15 and 26 will be hosting their annual events at the Lake Region Pioneer Threshermans Association annual show. We expect many, many displays. Lots of A,B, and C tractors to go around! Contact Wayne Swenson at 218-736-6505 for further info. You can even see our '37 BN John Deere with a mounted two way plow if you miss the green stuff too much!

Though it would be a good eight hour drive, that's realy tempting. I often attend the Two-Cylinder Magazine's Expo of old JD's. Ever been to that? How do the two compare? Is there an auction in conjunction with the Dalton show?

All C's were made at Louisville. That plant did not exist when the early (probably most) A's and B's were built, those were built at Chicago Tractor Works. The weight varies on how the tractors were equipped, loaded tires, wheel weights, etc. "Shipping weights" of the A and B were less than 2000 lbs (I have heard of A's being put in the back of pickups -- I wouldn't!), real world maybe 2200-2400. The C was heavier at about 2800, I have a C that weighs close to 3500 lbs, with one set of wheel weights and an aftermarket 3-point. Shipping weights do not include things such as fuel and water.

Not necessarily, you see all types of weights published -- yours are not that far off, particularly for the C. The ones I presented are from Guy Fay's book, which are the most likely to be correct, unless you have your own scale.

OK, I'll take a stab at this and see how bad I get shot at...

1) Mostly in Louisville, KY;
2) Yes, basically the same, except for wheel arrangement;
3) A, approx 3,000; B, approx 3,200, C approx 3,500 lbs.
4) See "Events Calendar" to the left of this screen.
