Have a 806 GAS, good tractor, wide front, three point, just over 4000 hrs. Looking to put a diesel in this tractor. SN is 39896 S-Y. I know you guys know what kind of options there are, how much work and money it takes, and what works best. ALL replies appreciated!

Thanks, Mike Truster

Hey Mike,

This is just my opinion, mind you, but I think you're gonna end up having the price of a good diesel tractor in that swap not to mention all the labor involved.

I'd sure be fer looking for a different tractor altogether iffin' it were I.

Allan

I think the best way to go is buy the diesel in the correct frame. Way too much involed in the switch. What are you using the tractor for? Look into a 1066.

why don"t you find an 806 Diesel junker for parts and start switchin. Actually if it"s a good tractor why not sell it for a good price and find a good 806D.

Takes a little work and a lot of money. Find a 361 or 407, since that is the correct block for the 806. Try to stay away from engines out of combines, they can have some seemingly minor differences that cause problems when trying to bolt it in. That will be the expensive part. You might need to get the 806 diesel frame rails, or drill two holes in each of your's for the front engine mounting bolts. I'd probably drill them. You'll need the rear engine plate and flywheel. You'll need to add a return fitting to your fuel tank. You'll need the fuel lines. You'll need the throttle linkage and tach cable. You'll need the diesel starter and another battery. You might need to relocate the exhaust pipe hole in the hood. Probably ten other small details I'm forgetting.

Around here if you had an 806 gasser you would have the only one, and probably worth a premium to somebody for that reason, although in MHO useless as t.t$ on a boar.
