Is there any special thing about replacing these connections?

Before you get all worked up and spend big bucks,,, My 460 leaked oil out the fitting real bad when hooked to the wheel disc. Went to farm store looked at new fittings ? couplers? what ever you want to call them. One day at my local IH store asked old time part man about my prolbem He said no biggy went to parts bin and brought out some odd looking O rings Part number 254 691 R1 if you have the orginal couplers some take 2 Orings some take 1 Oring 10 minutes later back in field no leaks ps make sure you install them with grease!

Get a fitting that is 1/2" male NPT on one end and 7/8"-14 ORB male on the other end. Then you can use a regular old Pioneer coupler on the tractor. I've picked these up at our local NH dealer and several other places as well.

Our 460's auxiliaries (on each side, not rear) pee oil pretty badly, too.

I looked into replacing these, but did not follow through with it at the time--the replacement was not as straightforward as I thought it would be.

I unscrewed one QD to see what NPT thread they were. Well...they weren't NPT. It appeared to me that the QD itself was a 37 deg female JIC port threaded onto a straight O-ring x male JIC adapter which threaded into the manifold block.

I stopped while I was ahead and meant to look into getting the correct QDs with correct thread but just haven't done it yet. I was hoping they were a simple pipe thread device. At least the ones on our 460 are not.

Case/IH may have replacements. Any store that that sells hydraulic hose and fittings will have quick disconnects. We always used Aeroquip and when we had a leaking problem they were replaced with new ones. Hal
