Good morning.
I need to buy the drive pulley that attaches to the PTO on a 48 Cub for a #22 sickle mower. I am pretty sure the Cub has a 1" diameter PTO shaft. What diameter pulley should I get, the 4" or the 4.5"? If I do not have the correct PTO size for a '48, please let me know. I measured it very quickly, trying to hide from my father-in-law!
FYI, I can order the right pulley from Case/IH when I know for sure the dimensions, but I will probably just have a pulley made. This sickle will be used, not shown, and I can get the pulley made for $12 instead of paying $90 for the OEM.
Thanks.

You can use either one. I think (can't remember for sure) that the early ones were 4 1/2" and the later ones were 4" but either one will work fine. The diameter of the cub pto is actually just slightly less than 1". Something like .910". If you are having a pulley made, go back and measure the pto shaft with a good micrometer.
