I have measured the step on the piston and it is completely centered on the piston.the numbers on rod and caps face the cam. I dont see how turning the piston 180 is going to change any thing. the liner height is in spec.

What is the stroke on the engine,4.0"? Are these
the old rods from the cracked block? Hal
Can you get some closeup pictures of that engine and post them?

The C135-9 bolt head 366299 will certainly fit and has a lot smaller combustion area. Could explain strong performance before the step pistons and touching after.

- C135 as used in the 330/340 shows 367727 block, 366299 head with 9 bolts and head gasket 366300
- C135 as used in the 404 shows 375596 block, 379240 head with 14 bolts and head gasket 383525

C123 501-36000 has block 354898 and head 251172/355046

C123 36001-65000 has block 366204 and head 355046/366299

C123 65001-up has block 367825 and head 366299

What do those numbers represent that you show for
the C123 block? 501-36000 to 65001. Are they block serial numbers or tractor serial numbers?
I thought they were the SN's from the Faramall C
that used a C113 block.Hal

That block is from a Farmall C with the C-113 engine so he thinks. The original C-123 block was cracked. Hal

If they do clear the pistons need to be removed and reinstalled so the rod numbers are facing the cam. Hal

Since Shaggy's dad had this problem I would turn them around to see if they fit. Just turn rods and pistons 180 degrees and see if the head clears. If it does you've found the problem. Hal

The Part# (354898R1) is listed in my 'C' parts manual, but not in my Super 'C' manual.

I don't have any info for the FCM... #. Although it resembles a serial#, it seems like too large of a number to be a serial#.

It could still have Super sleves in it if someone has already over-hauled the block.

I am by no means an expert, but i hope this helps.

The problem i am haveing is that i installed stepped pistons in this block and the piston hits the head before TDC. Looks like it just barely hits the edge of the step at the end of the stroke.

Are you sure you have the pistons turned the correct way? Sounds like you have them turned wrong.

What was the bore of the pistons you put in? I went from a 3 in to a 3 1/4 (now its 132cid) in my superA and they were stepped heads and they work just fine. My Dad ran in to this once and he noticed the dome was a little of center so we just turned them around on the rod and reinstalled them and it was fine.

Sorry to hear that.

I show idential part #s for the connecting rods, but the 'C' and Super 'C' list different crankshaft part#s.

They list many different sleeve kits.

There are also several different heads listed. Can you see a part# on the head ?
