SC Exhaust Tower

I am replacing the exhaust/intake manifold on the SC. The new manifold came without the tower that the muffler connects to. My old tower is rust pitted and looks bad. I would like to replace it with a new tower.

Where can I obtain a new tower?

If I have to fabricate a new one, what is good material to make one out of that will withstand the heat?

I was thinking aboutusing black iron, would this be a good selection of material?

1-1/2" NPT pipe at any hardware store. You just need to see what length you need. I usually go for around 6" - 9" depending on the tractor (and probably more often depending on what I have handy at the time ;) ). Too short and your muffler clamp will be under the hood and almost impossible to get to; too long and the muffler sits up high, looks awkward, catches tree braches and garage doors ;) and gives more leverage to crack your manifold when the afore mentioned items happen.

Just take the pipe you have to the local plumber. He can make you a new one out of black pipe, which is what the original is made out of.
