I was changing points/condenser/rotor on my 300RC tractor using a manual for a 400 for the specs on the points gap (.02) (don't have one for the 300). I noticed on the diagram in the manual that there was supposed to be a gasket under the plate that separates the points from the rotor/distributer cap and a washer under the rotor between the roter and the same plate. My tractor has neither. Are these missing parts important? Also, how important is greasing the distributer shaft as described in the manual - how often should this be done? Thanks for any response!

The dust gaskets can be ignored, they are not critical (I'd bet more than 70 % of Letter/X00,X50 series don't have them.
Greasing is important I would do it now, and every year, unless it is a parade only pet tractor. then I'd do it every five years.
A tear down to clean and relube is good.
Lube as the book describes.
