Does anyone add oil additives to there tractors during the cold months? I was thinking of using some of that Marvel Mystery oil. Is there any advantage in using this? Thanks
Andrew

I was told many years ago "Marvel Mystery oil" was mostly kerisene(mis-spelled)...not to use it.....I was putting it in every change.....my oil usage went away.....

Added wear caused by cold-weather starts, of course, can be reduced by some sort of heater. I just started using one last year on my H and probably won't go back to use without a heater.

In addition to light weight oil, you might want to make sure that the tractor gets good and warmed up when you use it. I run a woven grain bag over 3/4 of the radiator to help it come up to temperature. Condensation can be a problem in cold weather.

The only time I have added anything like Marvel Mystery oil was just before I was going to change oil & filter and I went out and worked the tractor good and got her warmed up for a few hours then dump the oil. The M.M. oil cleaned out any sludge build up but I do not recommend using it at all times. I agree with Rusty that proper vis. oil is all that is needed.

I do not use additives. A good quality motor oil of the proper viscosity does not need anything added to it.
