My oil pressure on my '47 "M" reads about 70psi consistantly. The tractors runs fine. Is this odd, or about the normal oil pressure? The oil gauge was replace by a previous owner with the numered styled gauge instead of the oem style "low, normal, high"

Thanks Allen, I'm a little new this so I wasn't sure, I bought the tractor a couple months ago. It wasn't running and had been sitting for a little over a year and half. After getting it home I cleaned the trash out of the gas tank and rebuilt the carb. Timed the magneto, replaced the spark plugs, wires, rotor, points and cap and know it runs pretty good. Pull the choke back and she starts on the first pull. All I need now is to find a intake/exhaust manifold for a distillite model to replace mine, because it has a small hole in it. Runs find but the exhaust leaks makes it louder and gives it a little popp'n sound

In a follow-up to Rusty's note. If you go for a new gasoline manifold look for a Vinson. They are made in this country and fit fine and actually are probably a little better performance wise then an original. If you really want a distillate manifold they are out there but not very common and deeper into your pockets. Welcome to the Red world and enjoy your M. Hal

Do you know of a dealer that sells the Vinson brand. If its good quality made in USA, I'll check it out.

I just checked Marshalls Tractor current EBay listings and he has a M manifold listed presently for a Buy it Now price of $130 plus shipping. This includes the exhaust pipe and all gaskets. Just need to make sure it is a Vinson as his description doesn't mention the brand name or if it was made in USA. It is EBay item #7577361453. Hope this helps, Hal

The Vinson on my M came on the tractor when I bought it. I recently bought a new Vinson for my Super C restoration from Marshalls Tractor Parts in Kentucky off of EBay. I confirmed it was a Vinson before bidding. I think he sells them through his store which can be reached at 1-888-824-0544 or on-line at www.marshalltaractor.com. Just make sure he is still selling the Vinson and hasn't gone to an import like most everyone else. Vinson has a website as well but don't have their link. Hope this helps, Hal

DigDug, you will be looking for a long time to find a GOOD distillate manifold. The manifold for a gasoline model will be a direct interchange, and will be much easier to find. In fact, you can buy a brand new aftermarket reproduction manifold, but some of these are less than perfect, so I would shy away from those except as a last resort.

It would be nice to find a distillute model but the only one I have found was a well worn used one on ebay and the current bid was like $340 bucks, no way I could swing that. I would be happy with a new gas model, I have seen them on the site and ebay from $125-$165 dollars plus shipping. I almost bought one from a local tractor parts dealer for $175, but shyed away from it when I saw the "made in China" stamped on the box. I'll look for a good used gas model or an american made new one.
