trying to get this tractor wired correct. i took coil cover of the mag and there is a wire not connected to anything. where does this go? i don't see anywhere for it to go, it has a eye terminal on it. thanks
Instead of standard regulator it has a cut out.

the way it was wired is-- battery to 12v coil to screw on side of mag. mag coil was took out of the loop. still has generator , ignition switch not hooked up. so you can see i am trying to correct things and get it as close as it was original for now.

The wire goes form the mag coil to the inside of the bolt for the kill swith. It grounds the coil via the points to help produce the spark. Since it had an external coil, the internal one is probalby bad. About $40 or so for H4 magneto. The link below will take you to a wireing website. It is for H and M, but elecrically it is the same as A

Thanks, now to find a wireing diagram. I thought i had one but guess not. would like to see what works and what doesn't. I know i could use a volt/ohm meter and test the functions.lights are missing but the switch is still intact. pretty rusty, might be shot.

need fuse holder and starter dog that rod hooks too and bracket for the dog.also need rod for front touch contol. guess that's what makes it fun, chaseing parts.will not get into detail about all the parts it needs. needs a couple other since i started working on it.

I know none of you have ever done that.

Just remember that the mag does not use battery power to function. The kill sw just goes to ground from the post on the side of the mag.

If you are converting it back to function as a magneto, IIRC, the wire that is now loose, (the internal mag coil wire) gets put over the threads on the end of the condensor inside the mag, then the special brass nut that extends through the insulator in the side of the mag tightens against it.

Look at the Blue Ribbon Service Manual at this link, starting with Page 39:
