Some nice pictures of a TD5 crawer tractor in Tractor Photos. Did this tractor use a UK built skid unit as the engine looks like a BD144 Diesel engine from the B275 tractor. In the UK IH built a BTD5 crawler based on the B414 tractor. They only made a few of them and i do not know exact production numbers. MJ

Hi Doug and many thanks for your infomation. Have seen a BTD5 at a show on the Lincolnshire Fens a few years ago and was told that the local IH dealer sold 3 of these tractors. Doug were is SN567 as one day a man rung me from Northumberland here in the UK telling me he had the last one made and he wanted to know what colour to paint it. Many thanks MJ

Mj, I don't Know where that machine is located, but I suspect its over your way. Someone posted the pic of it a while back on one of the boards & I saved it as its very unique.

MJ, yes you are correct the engine is the BD-144C from the UK. These crawlers were built in Canada @ the IHC plant in Hamilton Ontario between 1959 & 1964.There were also 2 gas models available the T-4 & T-5.

The production #'s for the BTD-5 built in the UK were 1963 to 1967, #501 to # 567. 66 units built.
I'll post a couple of pics in the photo section of the BTD-5.
Interestingly enough, there was also a DTD-5 crawler( with Drott loader)built in Heidelburg Germany in 1961 & 1962, production #'s ???.These were the same as the Canadian built crawler except with a german built 148 cu.in. 4 cyl. diesel.
IHC sure spread them selves around the globe in those days.
