Sorry I didn"t get back to you right away- I was in the shop all weekend working on the Magnum. We"re getting there! I"ve got the head back on and cam and cover area all assembled. Injection system is back together and bled. Today it will be the cooling system, aftercooler, exhaust system, and from end "sheet metal" (fiberglass). It"s amazing how many hours of labor are involved in this process. Now I am being extra careful to make sure everything is clean and proper -and in the right order as I reassemble, so I"m sure I"m spending more time on it than the dealer tech would. I"ve done this sort of thing before, but it"s amazing how much "crap" is stacked on top of this engine that all had to come off. I often wonder how many hours a dealer tech would take for the same job. No doubt having done it before so you don"t have to figure it out as you go would help, but things like scrapping gasket surfaces clean and dealing with broken bolts and difficult-to-reach components all just take time. Also with this tractor, most of the hardware is metric, but outsourced components (Holset turbo, Modine radiator, etc.) are often have fractional hardware on them. So pretty soon you have every tool you own, and some that you don"t laying all over!
I sure hope this takes care of the water-in-oil problem. I sometimes think it would be cheaper and easier to buy 5 Ms and hook them all together! LOL. Maybe I can post a pic when I get it all done.
Paul
