I made a mistake when I was bragging about how great my H starts, even in cold weather. Yesterday she refused to turn over at all. Since the battery cables were poor, I replaced them as well as the starter cable today. Didn't help at all. Whenever I hit the switch I hear a click at the starter, but that's it. It's a 6 volt system. Can anyone offer some help? Thanks.

Yes, the starter drive is jammed in the ring gear of the flywheel.

You probably have a jambed starter. (it happens) Put it in high gear brakes off ign off and rock the tractor violently back and forth with the top of a rear tire. Watch the fan, if it moves at all, it is free. Usually there is a clunk when they snap free.
If this does not help, and it is still stuck (no fan movement) then un bolt the starter bolts 3-4 turns (not flats)on the bolts and wiggle it.
There is a new clutch drive from Case/NH that is much better at preventing this grief.

You need to make sure your battery is fully charged. Your starter drive may not be engaging the ring gear, could be a bad connection. If this starter has a solenoid it could be the problem. Hal

Pull the starter off and do a bench test, you can use 6 or 12 volts to do it. If it spins good then reinstall it and see what happens. My guess would be that either the starter has gone bad or its stuck on the ring gear. Pulling it and bench testing will find either one of those problems.
