666 buying decision

Hello,

I am looking at getting a 666 with the 312 rebuilt engine, it is on a IH dealer lot. The dealer rebuilt it so it has warranty. the tractor is in good shape. paint is faded. it dynoed at74 hp. it has canopy I would like to put a loader on it. The asking price is 8400. What do you think

sounds high to me. They are great tractors but you can buy an 66 series tractor for that kind of money.

Price sounds high at that price it should already have a loader on it and a new paint job on it

Do you realize what dealers are charging for labor these days? Most places you wouldn't even get the overhaul done for that price. I think that's about the right price for a good 666 with a warranty.

The 666/686 with the 312 is one heck of a tractor. I sure like my 686 with 312. IMO the 312 is a lot better engine than the 282 in the 656, more power, easier starting, ect. Just make sure the TA and the hydraulic system is in good condition. Have the dealer hook up his flow rater to the hydraulics to confirm the condition of them.
