I am in the process of putting my 560D rear end back together. The Ih manual says to use a taperend shim along with the orginals on the right hand bull pinion cage. What is the tapered shim and its purpose?

Thanks Ronald

It should have a couple of tabs sticking out on edge that look different than other shims.should be to outside agian bearing cage when removed.
Can't remember but think they were marked which way top was when new.Not sure all 560 used them.
It is suposed to help with loading on bearings when tractor is under load.
