I have a 1952 W9 and would like to replace the oil bath air flter unit with a dry filter unit and have it still look like the original, or close to it. Has anyone had any experience with this? If so what did you do or find out?

Thanks, Rick

I think that will be pretty hard to accomplish. They weren't really designed to be converted. Most filters nowadays suck air in to the housing and then it passes through the filter and is sucked up into the intake. The oil bath has the air come out a tube just above the oil level, and then come up through the various layers of steel wool, and then go into the intake. You would need to find a frizbee shaped filter to stuff in there or something. Just out of curiousity, why are you changing it over? Check in the archives once, as I seem to remember seeing this topic before.
