Does anybody know how to figure out which shim to use when installing a belt pulley for the first time on a Super C?

Looked in the I.T Shop book and it said the gear lash should be set at .004 to .006. Didn"t give any more detail that that. Hope that helps. Guess its trial and error.

The shims are used to set the gear lash clearence. If you arent going to use the pulley no need to worry. If it is going to power a belley mower then you would want it set correct.

Thanks Gene, I do plan on using the pulley and need to know how to properly set the gear contact.
