What is the correct way to replace the shaft seal on a 1948 farmall cub hydralic pump? Thank You.. PLOWPUSHER

Early ones used a lip type seal, later ones an o-ring. So you are both right.

I think the seal used on the shaft of the Cub pump is just an o-ring.

Pull the old out and install the new one with the lip facing the oil. You can use a block or a socket that matches the seal to drive it in with a hammer (gently). If the shaft has a groove in it you need a speedy sleeve.
