I pull my 460 in tractor pulls, when I get to the end of the track and the weight starts getting heavy the TA will slip on the low side. When it slip it sounds like gears grinding anyone know what the problem might be.

I could make a good guess at whats wrong, but anyway to make the repair the T/A has to come out.So you might as well tear it down and inspect
and then decide whats needed.Magman if your refering to T/A clutch may be down to rivets, its disengaged when in low T/A.

I am not sure on that I had a 300 years ago that would whine like a 4 year old in the candy isle at the grocery store when you pulled her back on a load. I tore into her and had the replace the rear gear and overrunning clutch. I wonder if your TA clutch maybe is down to the rivits and maybe slippage causes what your hearing ? I do sell rebuilt units and some rebuild parts for TAs if interested. JON
