Hydraulic ram spacers

I pull a snow thrower with my 300u, and the 2pt goes too low, so I put spacers on the hydraulic ram to keep it up some. Tonight, the thrower was not working right, only to find out some of my spacers were gone. I put on 3 more, and they are now gone too. What the heck is going on?
The ones I was using were two cast halves with a spring steel piece going around them. Is there another type that is better? Got to buy something as I don;t think I will find those I had!
Thanks for reading and any helpful suggestions.

When you retract the cylinder like the other guys said your smashing them. You need to take the pins out on the fast hitch and let the blower float on it's skids.

I'm not closely familiar with the 300U 2-point, but doesn't it have down pessure? Could be that there's too much load for the two-piece spacers. What type control lever does it have? Many of the three points have a way to put a stop on the lever at the height you want so that you don't push the lever too far.

should put adjustable skids on the bottom of the thrower to relieve the pressure from the cylinders
