The steering wheel on my 1940 H has 3 straight spokes on it..17" in diameter. I v"e noticed on most others the spokes have a bend in them. I need to replace mine, which is correct and should it be plastic covering or hardend rubber? Thanks for helping! Randy

On an automotive repair show, someone stated that they restore their own steeringwheels that have had the outer layer crack or break off. When I got my first 400 I filled the cracks with A two part bonding agent. After it hardened I filed and sanded it to where it was back to useable without being uncomfortable on the hands. The last step would be to paint it. Should be good to go.

Early As and Bs had straight spokes so maybe the H did the same. There were changes in steering wheels made in the early days. Some of the I-H steering wheels even have S-G on a blank space on the back side this stood for SHELLER-GLOBE They were large maker of steering wheels.

Both new steering wheels that I bought from 2 different companies were made in China or Taiwan. I ordered one from CASE/IH and it was not even close to looking like what I had.
I have been debating on sending my 2 worn out steering wheels to MinnKota repair but it's kinda pricey.

Randy, if you haven't seen one redone by MinnKota yet I don't think you will be diappointed. They do a great job but it won't come back painted. You will have to paint the spokes and hub. Hal

The steering wheel should have a "dish" to it. The original covering would have been hard rubber, don't know what the reproduction wheels use.
