Just thought I would drop a line and let you all know how its coming.
I picked up the 4 new sleeves to replace the 4 I broke wile istalling them. Stuck them in the freezer and let them sit over night.
This morning I got hard at it. Removed the broke sleeves. Then put in the new ones. That went with out a hitch. Was very very carefull wile reinstalling.
Got the reground crank and new bearings installed. Even those 2 stinking noodle seals went in easy. Pistons and rod bearings installed. Oil pump installed. Timming cover and govoner installed. Bottom end is all done.
Finnaly.
I better give her the oats and get done as Its getting warm and I still need to fix the pto on my 400.
Have photos but my internet connection is hosed again.

Kelly Two things, I would have made the dowles to fit in the seal hole so you could troque the bolts then put in the seal, this way when you torque the bolts you could move the cap and pinch the seal. Your tractor looks to be a gas and the sleves seam to be above the block. Are the head gaskets that bad now days that the head has to set on the sleeves like a diesel? Good luck.

Sleeves are flush just looks that way in the photo.
I know what you mean about the dowles. Even with them I still had to line up the seal holes.

Here I got some photos to upload.

Here is one after I got the old sleeves out and got one of the new ones in.

Here is one of the alighnment dowles I made to install the rear main bearings.

These are those stupid noodle seals. These went in real easy this time. I broke 4 of them until I figured it out. $10 each at IH dealer.

Installing the pistons for the 6th and final ( I hope) time.

Sure feels good to have this part done. Will see if I can break any thing else before I am done.

Kelly I must have been lucky never froze a sleeve in my life, overhauled more IH than could count never broke one. Just a good block of wood and a hammer. I never had the depfreeze to put them in.

I guess some times its just the way it is.
I just suspect I got a bad run of sleeves. So maybe I got lucky and they broke when I could catch it. If they waited until I was using the tractor might have been a mess.
I will sure be glad when I am not putting more money into this 706 though.
