Does anyone know what color the seat is suppose to be. In one book it says silver but shows a picture of red and white. Also what was the original color of the dash?

i just got a copy of "original farmall hundred series 1954-1958" by guy fay and andy kraushaar. this book is great as a reference. it says the 300 and 400 series dashes were painted with Tousey Varinish company's 6278 air dry varnish. as i remember it was a medium color of gray. the 350-450's were painted with IH 004-23 satin black. hope this helps

Dash panel a Gray-I forget what # gray. Original IH seat back then silver. Red & white quickly became popular.

If you are looking for an original restoration, Darrell Darst out of Moscow Mills, Mo will recover your original seat for you. I had one done for my M.. Really nice job.

How much did he charge to redo it? I have always wondered if it was cheaper to recover on or just buy a repo.

Thanks!!

Silver seat, the red and white, although popular was not made by IH. Not sure of dash, I think ist was some shade of gray, someone will correct me.

I have a 56 300, the seat & dash are red, whats left of it anyway. It could have been repainted but it looks like the original paint. Maybe someone else can be of more help.
