A couple of days ago I asked about an H that is stuck in gear. I forgot to ask how to remove the shifter lever from the top cover plate so I can build up the shifting fork. I have not gone over to see this tractor but may have to do the work on it this evening or tomorrow morning. All help is welcome as I thought that the lever would not come off unless the cover was removed.

Brad, all you have to do is remove the three bolts around the base of the shift lever, and lift up.

Hans, not exactly. you push down on the lever, then remove the pin. after the pin is out, the lever will lift up and out.

The lever comes out real easy. There is a pin at the bottom of the lever just above the operators platform. Sometimes there will be little plugs on each side of the pin. If so, just pull the little plugs out first. Place the lever in the neutral area of the shift pattern and push down slightly. At the same time push the pin out from the side. All done. Now just lift the lever out.
