If it is out of time, why does the engine not backfire when starting fluid is sprayed in carb, motor will run until it runs out of strarting fluid.

I had this same problem with mine, it baffled me becasue it was two problem that happened at the same time.

1.) the component on the bottom of he gas tank where the bowl clips to was clogged : I ran a wire up it and reamed it clean.

2.) the neddle valve was sticking; i took it out an cleaned and posihed up a bit....

now the H runs great - by the way the gas mainfold works much better than the distillant one did.....

You have a plug in the fuel supply to the carburetor. Turn the fuel off under the tank. Then start by taking the fuel line off the carburetor. When you turn the fuel back on you should gave a very good stream running out of the line. If you do then check for a screen screwed into the inlet of the carburetor and see if it is plugged. If you just have a drip, take the line off the sediment bowl. Again you should have a steady stream. If you do, then replace the rubber fuel line. (Rubber lines will work, but over time can deteriorate and the rubber collapse and close off the line.) If you still only get a drip, then take the glass (or possibly metal) sediment bowl off and clean it and the screen on top of the bowl (between the gasket and the sediment bowl metal). While you have the bowl off, turn the fuel on and see if you have fuel coming out of the tank. If not, either take the tank off and tip it so that you can take the sediment bowl out without loosing fuel, or take an air compressor and blow air back into the tank though these holes. The next time the tank is close to empty, take it off and clean it out or this will happen again. Once you have good fuel flow to the carburetor, the H will run.

Does the H have a fuel filter screen at the fuel inlet fitting on the carb like an M? If that was clogged, you would have little or no fuel going into the fuel bowl but lots of fuel out of the fuel line to the tank.

$250 for a rebuild is not too far out of line. A rebuild kit from Case-IH will run right at $100. Figure a minimum of 2 hours labor at the going rate of $60 per hour, add a few dollars for miscellaneous, and there you are.

Take the fuel line off the shut off valve, see if you have fuel. Work your way through the fuel system until you get to the carb. You can remove the drain on the bowel (if you have a drain) and see if you have fuel. Short of that, remove the carb bowel and see if fuel is present. I'd say sumpins plugged somewhere..... ..

Would anything I have told you about tractor have anything to do with the valves being burnt up. and should I run a compression check. I opened the drain on bottom of carb and have some but little fuel dripping out like I have said before brought carb in to have rebuilt payed $250.00 so you would think the carb and float and everything should be good thanks for all the help

fuel dripping out??? you should have a GOOD FULL STREAM. No don't tear nothin up. Fix your fuel problem first. ARe you getting a good flow out of the tank? How about out of the line? If you ave good flow to the carburetor, then I don't care who worked on it. it needs worked on more.

The fuel should be running out of the carb, same as if out take the fuel line off the carb. It does have compression does it not?

This may sound a little harsh, but if I was in your area, I'd come over there and smack you upside the head. You're like Don Quixote charging at windmills over there, son!

If the tractor runs on starting fluid, then there's nothing wrong with the timing. The valves may not be in perfect condition, but they're working well enough. Ignition is working.

YOUR PROBLEM IS FUEL FLOW, PERIOD, END OF DISCUSSION!

Quit looking for problems where none exist. Quit listening to people who tell you to check the muffler bearings.

Hose or steel line, it doesn't matter as long as the hole is open between the gas tank and carburetor. Come on, you know that!

If the fuel only drips out the carburetor drain, THAT is your problem. Tractors will not run without gas. Take it back and make them fix it, or, fix it yourself. The float or needle valve is probably sticking.

$250 rebuild some one took you for a ride. Shoot you can buy a rebuilt carb for around $240 and they have a 1 year warranty one them. When you pulled the drain plug gas should flow sort of like you takeing a pi$$ if it doesn't then you have either a clogged sediment bowl, or line or the float is sticking. Take the line loose at the carb and make sure it has a good flow there. If it does you still have carb problems and I would take it back to who rebuilt it and say FIX it RIGHT

If it runs on starting fluid you are NOT GETTING FUEL either TO the caburetor or THROUGH the carburetor. Remedy that and it will run. We can tell you what's wrong but we can't fix it.
