Will a Cub fit in a 6 x 10 dump trailer?
It is a low trailer, sitting between the tires. Will 2 X 12s that I have for ramps support the Cub?

Thanks,E J

Having just had a similar experience, here are my thoughts:

1. Depending on which "Cub LoBoy" you have (offset or numbered), and how wide it's set if it's an offset, the tractor by itself can be as narrow as 44". Even the numbered LoBoys with the balooney tires aren't more than 5' wide. If your 6x10 trailer has at least 60" between the wheel wells, it'll go on.

2. Dimensional lumber is of poor quality. The best 2x12s I could find at Lowes weren't enough to hold my LoBoy with rear weights and a front blade for loading. We had to put blocking under the ramps about halfway up. If your 2x12s are old oak, then you've got something, but otherwise, plan on blocking them every 3', or plan on going to the hospital.

3. Weight is your biggest concern when hauling. Depending on what your tractor is equipped with, it could weigh as much as 2000lbs, or as little as 1200lbs. Overload the trailer, and plan on sending someone to the hospital. I hauled mine in a tandem-axle enclosed utility trailer with a 7700lb GVWR. It laughed at the load. You can safely haul a Cub with a much smaller trailer, though.

Yes a cub will fit on at 6'x 10' dump trailer. It will also go in the back of a standard pick-up truck.

2"x 12" planks will hold up the Cub provided you don't make them over 4' long. I wonder why you will need ramps when you have a dump trailer?

Two possible reasons:

1. It's a real dump trailer. In other words, like a small dump truck, the bed raises up with hydraulics. The rear of the bed comes nowhere near the ground.

2. It's a cheapie "tilt-back" trailer, and the bed angle is too steep to drive the tractor up on.

The 2x12's can be longer if you put something under them every 4 or 5 feet like concrete blocks. This keeps the bending stresses down. That's assuming the board isn't full of knots.

Careful putting blocks under planks like that, you can create a swivel pointe and and end up with the tractor upside down. If your giong to do that, make sure there is a gap between the block and the plank with no load on it. Dave.
