The fan hub in my 47 A broke, and I'm looking to buy a replacement. A local dealer quoted me 274 on a IH original equipment replacement, but I keep seeing the aftermarket replacement units for 80 or so. One dealer told me these tended to break under constant use, but I probably use this tractor less than a hundred hours a year. Does anyone have experience with the aftermarket units and their reliability? This tractor is currently only used for mowing a few times a year.

I put one on my BN that I mow about 4 acers with about 8 yrs ago and the pulley broke lose from it right away. I returned it to my Tisco dlr and he replaced it and its been fine ever since. He did say at the time that they had problems with the first ones. I also put one on my Super A about 2yrs ago and its fine. I highly recommend a water pump if you are going to work it hard in warm weather.

Thought you mite have a mounted one. That plow you have would be just rite for the B. We had a neighbor who pulled 2-12 pull but he didnt have any hills and was mellow dirt. I used to have a 2-12 pull and only problem was traction. Now i have a b-187 two way exhaust lift 14in have fun plowing gardens just got to go to a plow thing as the bottoms are getting to scour better. have fun.

gene, I would like to try 2-12's, I have plenty of power, it's traction I usually run short of.

An older fellow here helped me out with the plow set-up and adjustments. It's pulling pretty nice now, but it's been so dry the ground is hard as a rock!

I have one. haven't used it much. I see no reason why it would break, never heard of that. Not much to them -- just a sealed bearing. When that goes you have to replace it. Perhaps someone who has used one a long time will answer.
