Was trolling through the photo ads and saw a Hydro 100 listing with a $12,000 price tag. Don't know nothing about that model.
What years was it made? What horsepower? Many made? Many made with narrow front? This must be a fairly rare tractor to ask that pricing, huh?

C.H.Wendels book has pictures of a 966 Hydro, 1066 Hydro, and Hydro 100. In 1974, 966 Hydro became the Hydro 100. I have also seen reference to a 1466 Hydro introduced in 1971, but I have never actually seen one. A history of the IH Hydro tractors would be a neat story, if anyone is looking for book ideas. Most books gloss over the Hydro's, if they mention them at all.

Looks to be about $5000 to $6000 overpriced. Now if it was a Hydro 186 with the 86 series cab $12000 would be a fair price. Any 66 series tractor could be ordered with a narrow front option but not many were.

A Hydro 100 is a 1066 hydro. I'm pretty sure they made them as a 1066 hydro in the early years of production and then started calling them Hydro 100s later on. I'm pretty sure this is covered in a book somewhere. Possibly Ken Updike's. As far as price goes it is probably not out of line IF the hydro is strong. That is what you have to look out for on those old hydros. I would love to find a 1026 hydro in really nice condition, but they are pricey too.

Baelee,

They don't have a turbo on 'em do they? Or do they? I always thought they were a 966 version of the hydro.

Now that you mention it Allan, I'm just not sure. Perhaps it was the 966. I know it was just a later version of the 966 or 1066 hydros. I know it was covered in a book somewhere. I took a quick look at Updike's book and its not in there. I thought it was. I'll keep looking. You're probably right. My memory isn't what it used to be.

Yes Sir,

Basically, a 966 with a hydro tranny, except they have the 436 engine instead of the 414.

A monster of a tractor if ya ask me. :>)

Hi Bill,

Sounds about right to me if it is in good shape. They are one heck of a tractor; lots of guys like 'em under those big loaders.

Sure wouldn't want one with a narrow front tho.
