Is there a way to tell the difference between a Farmall "300" and a "350" with out the sheet metal side panel emblems? We purchased a Farmall 300/350 from a guy (sn #1833) several years back with no sheet metal emblems. The grille and side panels were trimed out in white paint. He was not the original owner, but thought it was a "300". We are in the process of repainting it and would like to know for sure wether it is a "300" or a "350".
Thanks for your help!

Several ways to tell, but sometimes parts are swaped around through the years. This is not a 100 percent sure way to tell but most times if the housing with serial # is from a 300 and it has a T/A. Look at the lever on T/A clutch shaft left side of tractor that rod from T/A operating handle pins to. There will be a part # if it starts with numbers 360 the housing is most likley out of 300. If number begins with 365 it was used on 350. If your tractor is a original 300 with serial # you posted it should have came with rear cast wheels like a H or SH. Also most if not all castings would probably have a Z code with that serial # if 300.

The ser. # would indicate either a 55 300 or a 57 350. Since the engines can be swapped too, I'd start checking casting dates on castings other than the engine block. The letter A would be used for 1955 and the letter C was used for 1957 production year. The dates would appear like this 3*15*C. or A. The asterisk would look like a cast in slotted screw. Look at many castings, not just one to assure you what you have

Not a 100% way to identify but on the distributor side of the engine towards the upper back of the block will be raised numbers and letters made into the block. It will either say C169 witch is a 300 engine or C175 witch is a 350 motor.
