I know this is an antique forum, but alot of us have mowers too. I have a cub cadet 1541 that the electric pto will not stay engaged. It will enegize in the third start position, but when you release it to the run position, it stops. I have cleaned all connections, battery to switch to pto clutch and have replaced the pto switch as well. Is there a relay or some other connection I have missed? An ideas appreciated.

Yes there is a relay. When it goes bad it gives the symptoms you describe. It is a standard bosch relay and is located in the battery area. below is an excellent forum to ask cub Cadet questions.

This is a very simple series circuit. It probably is a bad ignition switch. Check for voltasge at the wire going to the interlock. It may also have a seat interlock. Good luck, JimN
