966 slow hyd. and 3 point

I noticed that the hydraulics on my 966 won"t do anything unless the engine is atleast half throttle. My three point is the same way. This is what I know; It is not the filter, because my steering, brakes and TA work fine. It is not the pressure relief valve, because I swaped it with my 1066, and nothing changed.

There is one other thing I have not checked, which is the "unloading valve", which the IT shop manual says to take out and check.

Does any one have any other ideas?

Thanks to all for your responses!!

Check for a blown oring between the pump mounting flange and rear houseing. Will have to remove pump to check this. Could also have blown orings between the action control valve & lift cyl. Remove 3pt center link cover & look for hyd oil running out at front of lift cyl. Is normal to have oil flow at rear of hole when running

Erik,

You and I have the same problem. It needs a rear pump; you can take it to the bank.

My trouble is I'm too cheap. :>)

When you replace it, put in the 17 gallon darlin'; makes a heck of a difference.

Allan

Well the T/A is on it's owen pump and if the hitch is working slow . So you have two choises to make here , one is to have the hitch pump flow rated or just pull the pump out and replace it and see if things come back to life. I was running my 806 the past couple days culivating and noticed that my three point was getting a bit slow so i guess i had better throw the flow rater in the pick up tomarrow and check mine and i know what it is going to tell me BUY a NEW PUMP.

The remotes on my 966 have always been on the slow side. The 3 pt. hitch seems to work well. My neighbors 966 also has slow operating remotes. I was told that these tractors have a low gpm pump.

Well if it in good shape then it should be flowen over 10 gallion a min. at full pressure if it below that then time to fix it . I do not have the book in front of me to give the spec's but if it will do over 10 gallion a min and the pressure is over 1700 then it's close .what a min that is for the 06 seires as 66 seires had a higher releif setting . I would have to go and put shoes on and go look after the next three or four barley pops .
