I have a couple of early Hs with distillate/gasoline start motors on them. i dont have sense enough to figure out the differance if any between the Carburators on the full gas unit and the distillate unit. Can you successfully run this tractor on gasoline using the distillate carb? I am needing a teaching lesson on this subject. I am not sure how to distinguish between a gasoline head and a distillate head. Needing some input on this also.

Tom, the differences in the gasoline carb, and the distillate carb, are very slight, in fact, the only difference is that the main metering tubes have different part numbers. I suspect that the orifices in the distillate metering tube are larger than in the gas carb. If you have the distillate carb, you can replace the metering tube with one from a gas carb, but since distillate fuel has not been available for at least 30 to 40 years now, I suspect that your dist. carb has already been upgraded, and even if it hasn't you can still use it with gas, and probably will not notice any difference. You can tell the difference in the heads by just looking, you need to remove the valve cover, and the part number is cast into the head. I'll have to dig out my parts manual and find what those numbers are.
