Does the oil appear to be comming from between the rear of the belt pulley attachment and the rear gas tank support? If so, there is a stamped steel plug in the rear of the belt pulley attachment. That plug may have a hole in it. That is what happened on my H. Gear oil was leaking from between the rear of the belt pulley attachment and the rear gas tank support. At first I thought the gasket was leaking so I installed a new gasket, but it still leaked. So, I took off the belt pulley again, and then I noticed that that steel plug had rusted through. Put a new one in and it has not leaked since :-)

Might be transmission cover gasket,if it has one.Someone may have used sealant at one time in place of a gasket. When I did my 41 H,I ordered a gasket for the cover from the local Case IH dealer, but it didn't fit properly.
