What have you guys found to be the best brand of 16" tires for a gooseneck trailer? Everything I find only has a 2 ply polyester sidewall even in load range E. Doesn't seem like enough for heavy loads? Thanks

We use 750x16 14 ply Hankooks for our heavy duty trailer tires. They seem to be almost indestructable.

I bought a new gooseneck several years ago. It had Firestone tires on it. Since then it has carried too much weight for too many miles at too high speeds. The tires have been great. I suspect they have 30,000 miles on them with an average weight load of 10,000 lb., well within the gvw of the trailer. When it comes time to replace those tires, Firestones are going back on.

The maximum weight per tire at a specified pressure is given on the sidewall. If that matches the load you are ok. It is likely that the combination of the 4 tires exceeds the GVW of your trailer anyway. Be sure to use trailer tires, not passenger tires or even LT's. Trailer tires are designed to reduce sway.

Look at the load range not the ply. Need proof, look at two 235-75-15 pick up tires, one 4 ply,one 6ply the 4ply carrys more weight than the 6ply. Check the lb. on the side of the tires. (13 yr. in a tire shop)
