Went to a farm estate auction yesterday. No red tractors, but I did buy a hit miss engine. Tag marked: "International Harvester 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 HP, serial no. LAA 6446". Missing a few parts I think, rusted out fuel tank, broken mag cap. Rest seems to be okay. Engine turns over about half way then stops. I have not gone any further, did not want to screw it up. Where can I find out any info on these? Parts, manuals, etc. ? I will take some pictures of it, and try to figure out how to post them here. Thanks.

This is not a hit and miss engine.

the parts for it are readily available I would contact>Link

Please take the head off before you attempt any further turning of it and see if it turns freely then. If not, check the govenor linkage carefully --you will have go to into the back of the motor.

The fuel tank...it is it between the runners or sitting high on the end?

The fuel tank is between the runners. Thanks for all the info. I bought it to save it from the scrap metal guys that were buying up all the junk and metal. I will look and see what it will take in parts, but may just sell it to a collector, and let them complete/repair it.

Be careful. If it turns part way, & gets tight, it probly has a stuck valve. Check this before you break the rocker arm.

Yeah, I will be carefull. I have been messing with old Farmall tractors for about 5 years, and know not to force anything.
