Farmall M oil plugs?

I have a 1949 Farmall M with a verticle distributer. There is a plug on the side of the distributer, and on the top of the housing where it takes a 90 degree and goes into the timing gear housing. Are these plugs for grease zerks or are they to have oil put in them? How much? Should the distributer gear box be packed with grease? Thanks as always, Dave

Those are for grease, but do not overgrease. I was going to say consult your owners manual, but the vertical Delco distributor is not covered there, so basically you remove the plugs, install grease zerks, and pump a few shots into them. Seems like the book recommends one shot of grease every 500 hours or something like that. You can easily overgrease them, but it's also a pretty sure bet that there hasn't been any new grease pumped in there for a good many years. You'll just sort of have to play it by ear. Maybe someone else will jump in and have more ideas?
