Hi All -

I found 2 sets of new old stock IH sleeves/pistons at a sale today. The estate had 8 22-36 McCormick Deerings (and nothing else), so I"m pretty sure that is what they fit.

I have a couple of 10-20"s - I was just wondering if they would fit that engine, too - or just the 22-36?? Would they also fit a 15-30?

Also, the pistons are in the cylinder sleeves in the box - they seem pretty stuck - just from the old grease - there is no rust on them - but would they have shipped like that from the factory with the rings in them??

If so, do you just push the piston down until you can slide the wrist pin out and put the connecting rods on??

Thanks for any advice,
Howard H.

The 15-30 kit will fit the 10-20. The 22-36 may fit the 15-30. What did those tractors sell for? Hal

The 15-30 kit will not fit the 10-20. That is like trying to drive a 1" pin in a 1/2" hole.

That's what I've been told by people who know.

don't go screwing up a good set by not knowing what they are. There should be a part number in the top flange of the sleeve, or cast into the side of the sleeve. Email me the info, and I will identify.

The only # I see stamped in the flange of the sleeve is 565-D.

The tractors went very cheap - I got the best one of the group for $30 - it is complete, but the rear rims are rotted. The others brought $20 apiece.

They are in a draw and fairly hard to get to. The one in the barn brought $375. It had had a hard life before it got stored in the barn.

Thanks,
Howard

I don't claim to know for sure but I would be supprised if the sleeve kit had rings on the pistons. As far as I know IH always sold the rings seperate and still do today. I'd take that sleeve kit and soak it in the parts washer for a while to soften up that shipping grease and remove the piston. If its that junk that I'm thinking of you could drop it in the ocean for a hundred years and it wouldn't hurt the metal but cleaning it off takes a little work. Do this only if you plan on using it or sealing it back up again so it don't rust up!
