I have a 39 M low serial number that I am getting back to all original. At on time the disolate manifold was changed to a gas one. Ive seen this alot. Is there a problem running a disolata manifold when running gas all the time? were most these changed out due to cracking or why were they changed out. Does the gas manifold perform better? Thanks Paul

Correct and correct. The distillate manifold will not have as good of performance as a gas manifold, due to the excess heat. (LP manifold is even better!)

The distillate/kero manifolds I have seen are rusted out and appear to have thinner casting material.

I have a good M distallate heat shield that will hide the gas manifold. You will need to brase or weld a stud on your manifold to attach the shield.

My distallate H ran better with a repro gas manifold. The old one was cracked and the diverter valve seized. I mounted the original heat shield over the new manifold. You would a mirror and a good pen light to find the new manifold.

I never thought of doing that with a shield but sounds like a good idea. If your shield is for sale shot me an e-mail thanks Paul
