In your "Told Ya So" post yesterday you talked about it taking you acouple hours to clear up the lens on the tach. My lens is cloudy and somewhat yellowed and can't hardly see thru it. What did you do to clear it up. I had resigned myself to having to buy a new tach as IH said you would screw up the tach trying to get apart. Them things are $$$$$.

I have read stories about military folks polishing the scratches out of fighter windscreens and canopys. Not sure what they used. seems to be along the same lines.

Instead of tooth paste there cleaners made especially for polishing "craze" out of clear plastic. NAPA has a cleaner that is marketed for plastic windscreens on motorcycles. I used it to clean up the rear window of my Cadillac convertible.

Did I say a couple of hours? Meant to say a couple of days. :>)

I used both abraisive toothpaste and then finished up with a cleaner type car wax. Just kept working at it, over and over again.

Think it was Sloroll who put me on to that trick. Made a new lens out of it.

No, just left it in the tractor.

Darned things are made of plastic and that abrasive stuff just works out all the tiny, little "scratches" and so forth.

It really does work, just takes a bit of elbow grease and some time.

I did my 1066 too, only I left the area around the hour meter a bit cloudy so I wouldn't have to look at all those numbers. :>)
