I'm building a 1936 F12 engine. I'm a machinist and engine builder, but have never done this engine before. I found this site looking for a complete overhall kit for convienience. My normal local engine parts warehouse has bearings, but will have to chase everything else.

Are kits for the 113cu engine in a Farmall Model A tractor the same as for a 1936 F12? 3'bore X 4" stroke.

I notice the kit's for model A are oversize from 3" bore to 3 1/8". Is this built into the new sleeve or do I have to bore the block oversize to accept a larger sleeve?

Are cams and lifters availible for these engines or do I need to have it reground?

thanks for any help!
Keith

The sleeves are not the same for the F12 and the c113 A B C . The deck is shorter on the F12. The sleeves can be turned to fit. The over bore is 3.125 not 3.250. The pistons & rings & bearings are the same.

No boring is required to install the 3.25" pistons, the sleeves are thinner. The lettered tractors with the dry sleeves from the H and up can have their cid increased too without boring the block. The sleeves are thinner too. Check with your auto parts store for a sleeve kit. You may need to make yourself a puck to pull those wet sleeves. Be sure to clean that area thoroughly where those sleeve seals are installed
in the block. Hal

Max, Try Rice equipment Inc. 814-226-9200, or email gjr@riceequipmentinc.com. This company specializes in Farmalls from the early 20's to 1939. I think they will have everything you need for an overhaul for the F12. They had a carb float in stock for my 37 F30 at a reasonable price. They got about everything. Good luck.

While Ive never been inside the engine on my 14, I have read on here that the bearing will have to be modified somewhat to work. I also know the guy I got my 14 back from got his sleeves and pistons from NAPA, and when I questioned a friend who owns a NAPA, he had them listed in one of his books.
