can a feller take and change the band brakes to disc brakes from SH or 300? boy every time i go to thinking it costs me money

Terry,
The band brakes are just as good as the disk brakes even when working perfectly. The disk brakes (in my opinion) in humid locatyions take simiannual maintanence, the band brakes do not. If they are not soaked with gear lube from leaky seals, they are great. Changing them is easiest by replacing the whole rear end with one from a SH. That is a lot of work/expense for no better brakes. JimN

Guess i always thought the band brakes were better than the disk brakes. Or at least they are a lot less trouble. IMHO
