I have a 1086 thats a very nice tractor but does not go into park, goes into everthing else fine, but I cannot get it into park. Also a light came on in the dash that never has before... I believe its the coolant level light, but I checked and refilled and the light still stayed on, what else could this light mean???

The park brake could be any number of things. The linkage could be binding or out of adjustment, something could be broken or missing in the transmission. My 1086 is hard to get in and out of park, but my 1486, which has had an upgraded shift linkage system put in it will almost fall into park.

Did the park brake ever work?

If the light on the dash is an arrow pointing down with dots behind it, that is not a coolant level light(1086s don't have a coolant level sensor) it is the air intake light. Change the air filter (DON'T CLEAN IT).

Hope this helps

To correct myself, they DO have a coolant level probe, however, my wiring diagram says it is a one wire sending unit...

Just when you think you know something...!

(Now I have to go out to my 1086 and find that little devil!)

You may have a linkage problem with your park. Take floor pan out and see if you linkage is working to the park brake . Your coolent level lite-could be broken wire or a bad sender. Remove the wire from the sender and ground it to a good ground and see if the light goes out,it should, had this same problem on a 886 yesterday.
