Can you mount a newer style PTO assembly onto a 1940 H?

Thx, for the answers. Bad news is much lower 14,761. Was suppose to be a 1947 model.

Good news it must have had the factory "rubber" conversion put on it.

Bad news is I bought it to become a working tractor. Now don't think I should do that. Decisions, decisions.

My 1940 H has the early style PTO. I put the adaptor on the small shaft so that it would match up to the pulley for the Woods belly mower. I've been cutting the grass with that rig for about 8 years now. It works great.

Late 1940 tractors serial # 45614 or higher are suposed to have the correct counter shaft to just bolt later PTO in. If its a lower serial # its like Paul said.

you can but you would need to change the lower shaft in the transmition that drives the pto because the way it attaches to the shaft it different
