i've got it all apart except for one peice or 2 . the little orifice that goes straight down inside the bottom half. one of the tiny ears was broke off by PO. Drill? also the little brass circle next to it with the tiny tiny hole. does it come out? no way to get ahold of it either.

I have my H carb apart and know exactly what you are talking about. A couple of points that may help. The complete rebiuld kit from OEM does come with the an air metering jet (the brass part with the ears). A small easy out should jerk the old one right out - it"s brass so there is no chance of breaking the easy out off in the fitting. Worst case senario is you have to drill and tap. Speaking of taps, I didn"t know what size to get so I cleaned the threads with some steel wool on a toothpick with a few burrs cut in it. I put a little antisieze on the threads and she screwed right in. Be careful not to over tighten it or you"ll break the ears off the new jet.

If you look carefully at the "flat disk" with the hole in it is actually a fitting of some type that is pressed in - I don"t know of anyone that sells these. In truth, it looks to me as long as the hole on top and the one in the side are clear, it should not need to be replaced.

I hope to paint my carb tonight and get it put back on this weekend - I"ll let you know how it goes.

Leave that brass idle metering jet right where it is. The slots being broken off will not hurt a thing. Get one of those acetylene torch tip cleaning sets, the one with the various sized wires in it, and find the wire that will easily fit down through that jet. Do not alter the internal size of that jet. If that jet is any larger than it should be, you will have idling problems.

Buy a new idle air jet from IH, drill out the old one a little at a time, forget the easy-out & get a #5-40 machine screw thread tap to clean out the residue. Gently does it.
I found a tap at a local surplus store; you may find one at a gunsmith also.
Easy repair without tearing your hair out.
Leave the flat disc alone.
E-mail if you have questions.

If it's stuck, leave it alone. You don't need to remove EVERY part. Just soak it good with carb cleaner and blow it out with compressed air.

If that little part is the one I am thinking of, I had a stuck one. I took the smallest drill bit I had and drilled through. Kept increasing the drill bit size until I could use my smallest easy out and it screwed out. I also sprayed it with lots of penatrating oil inside and out. That part is no longer available so I wouldn't mess with it unless you have a spare.

no i do not have an extra one . guess i will leave it alone and keep squirting carb cleaner threw it. i hope it will still work correct with one of them ears missing. now the little circle next too it, is it supposed to be flat with a tiny hole in the middle? i took the smallest torch cleaner i had and cleared the hole.

you would think China would be making those obsolete parts by now that will almost fit.

BIG WARNING!!!!. IF you try to hard on the brass tube going into the bottom of the carb and it brakes off like I have had them do you may end up haveing to replace the carb since they are a $%^& plus a $%^& to get out BTDT and got lucky a few times but more offen then not you don't get lucky and you then have to get hold of some one like me and buy another carb LOL. Also if you keep tring use a 6 point socket to do it NEVER a 12 point one. You know bajo you can alway call me if you need help/info since my phone number is also on the web site. BTDT with a good number of people. Just say tractor if you get the machine LOL

Can you make a picture of the "Little Ears" and stuff that you are having a problem with. It is hard to follow this.

sorry i do not have a camera. the peice i am talking about is a brass orifice that is screwed down in a hole. it had a slot like a straight slot screw on the top. one side was broke off. there is about a 1/16 of an inch all the way around the orifice so there is no way to get a hold of it. it is down in a hole in the bottom half of the carb. I am not going to try and get it out.

there is another brass peice right next to it that does not have any slots or any evidence of a means to remove it. it has a small hole in it about the size of the smallest torch tip cleaner. I'm not going to mess with it either.

I leave alot of details out i know. But the people that have had these carbs apart usually know what i'm talking about.if you ever tear a H carb apart you will see what i'm writeing about. These carbs are not like a super a carb, they have more adjustment screws on the outside.

I am not having problems now, just making sure i dont screw up the carb and have to buy another one.thanks
