Can anyone help John out here...I don't know the answer:

Hi Tom, I'm a Kiwi living in the UK I have the tractor disease and have a Farmall H 1943. Sadly the commission plate on the transmission is missing.Would the engine number(which is FBH135500X3)be the same as the plate? In the UK I need that plate No. to get an age related number plate made.Only cosmetic but I like to keep a tractor's integrety.I have a blank plate and can stamp it ok.Also is the single wire from the switch on the dash connected to the slotted screw on the mag for the earth/stop? Look forward to hearing from you. Have a merry Christmas.I have two weeks off.

That's probably the switch for grounding out the magneto that he's referring to. To be sure remove the wire at the mag and start the engine then touch the area where the wire was removed.
His switch will need to be in the off position too. Hal
PS; Here's a picture of that mag ground wire.

Tom,
I sent a reply to his question. I have 3 H farmalls , and all three have matching serial # tags & engines numbers.

On the left side of this page, under research and info, click on tractor registry, click on Farmall, click on H. You will find that the majority of the engine serial numbers do match the tractor serial number.
